Minimum opening deposit for most CDs is $500. Start Small CDs minimum opening deposit is $25 only. All IRA accounts have a minimum opening deposit of only $50. Jumbo CDs are accounts with a balance of $100,000 or more.
Interest is compounded semi-annually and will be credited to the account semi-annually.
The option to receive an interest check, or transfer interest to another account at Oregon Community Bank & Trust more frequently than semi-annually may be permitted.
91 day CDs, 182 day CDs, 9 month CDs, and 1 year CDs will automatically renew, at the current rate, at maturity unless requested otherwise. You will have ten calendar days from the maturity date to withdraw the funds without being charged a penalty. Jumbo CDs and odd term CDs will not automatically renew at maturity. If you choose to withdraw some or all the funds from any term CD, interest will not accrue beyond the maturity date on the amount withdrawn.
Interest begins to accrue on the day of deposit; however, we reserve the right to delay credit on deposits over $98,000. In this event, interest on non-cash items (example: checks) will begin no later than the business day we receive credit for them.
After the account is opened, if the original maturity date of the CD is one year or less, additional deposits to the CD are permitted in amounts not less than $50 and not greater than $50,000. Additions are not allowed for Jumbo CDs ($100,000 or more) or CDs with an original maturity date of greater than one year.
We use the daily balance method to calculate interest on the account. This method applies a daily periodic rate to the principal in the account each day.
The annual percentage yield assumes interest remains on deposit until maturity. Any withdrawal will reduce earnings.
If any deposits are withdrawn before the maturity date, a penalty as shown below will be imposed. Early Withdrawal:
One year term = 90 day interest penalty
Greater than one year term = 180 day interest penalty
Exception = Start Small Certificate of Deposit
Our Start Small CD has a term of six months and is automatically renewable. Deposits can be made to the account at any time in any amount, and one penalty free withdrawal every six months is allowed. This is our most popular account for parents saving for young children. A start small CD with its flexible terms is a great tool for teaching children about banking and how to save.
